Over the last couple of months we've had some NYC sample sale fever hit Los Angeles. 260SampleSale and Eclipse have recently started renting out empty retail spaces in the Beverly Hills area. So you might think is this the traditional Los Angeles sample sale you're used to that has ridiculously low prices? The answer is no but their strategy is smart and it's working.
They bring in high end brands such as Sandro, Maje, Philipp Lim, Zadig & Voltaire, Kooples and others. I did some research and went ahead and spoke to the employees at both companies. Basically they do a buy out with each brand with wholesale prices of overstock items and then sell them at 60% percent off of retail to their customers. So basically it's a little lower than outlet prices. What best place to do it ? Beverly Hills of course. Where the prices are all retail and very little on sale. It's perfect for the woman shopping on Rodeo to stumble across 265 N. Beverly drive and find herself in what she believes heaven... Sandro at 60% off retail or perhaps shopping on Robertson and stumbling across 315 S. Robertson to find some of Eclipse sample sales.
The marketing is clever and it is definitely working. Are they selling out completely, no they are not but because they move the brands from city to city it definitely works. All their sales are between weds-sunday. On mon/tuesday they get the new shipment of the next brand taking place the following weds. It's a smart cycle and schedule.
Here is the secret that a lot of people don't know about 260SampleSale. On the last day of each sale the prices get slashed an additional 40%-60% percent depending on the brand. At that point yes there is less inventory but you can still find some great stuff at pretty great prices! As for Eclipse they usually just do a combo deal. Buy 2 get 30% off additionally. Anyhow you get the point!
To see what sales are coming up you can either visit their sites or just sign up to my new discovery chicmi.com where all sample sales live! it's a gift, truly a gift! You will never shop retail again. Trust me, its goooooooood stuff!
